Under the Microscope

September 4, 2017

The current exhibit at the Fullerton Museum Center Under the Microscope: The Artwork of GERMS is a stunning collection of a young artist's career.

Jaime Zacarias has gone by the nomenclature of GERMS for years growing up in east Los Angeles. His paintings are are bold and vibrant with all sorts of Chicano and religious iconography.

Most of the pieces in the show are privately owned and on loan. Mostly because GERMS and his work are in such high demand, many of his paintings and collectibles are snatched up as soon as they're available.

It is easy to look at this whimsical world and not be cheered by it. Full of images and secret codes, you can also get lost in the paintings, often times discovering something new each time.

Mostly just being snarky.
